Sharp, bullpen strong but 'Clones fall 6-1 to Ironbirds

ABERDEEN, MD (July 11, 2018) – Brian Sharp blasted a solo home run, and the bullpen tossed 7 1/3 terrific innings but the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets were defeated by the Aberdeen Ironbirds 6-1 Wednesday night in the series opener at Ripken Stadium.

  • Trailing 4-0, Brian Sharp lined a home run over the right field fence to put the Cyclones on the board in the fifth.
  • Abderdeen scored four runs in the first against Brooklyn starter Briam Campusano who lasted just 2/3 of an inning, the shortest outing of his career. Adam Hall’s two-run single highlighted the frame.
  • Cyclones relievers Billy Oxford, Ryan Selmer, Tommy Wilson, and Yeudy Colon combined to toss 7 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run, striking out six.
