'GADES COME BACK FOR 5-2 WIN OVER BKLYN

BROOKLYN, NY – July 9, 2016 – The Hudson Valley Renegades did not have mercy on Full House Night here at MCU, as the Cyclones blew a late lead en route to a 5-2 loss on Saturday evening.

RHP Harol Gonzalez started for the Cyclones, but ran into some trouble early as the Renegades hopped on the board in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead when Ryan Boldt scored on a single to center field from Nathaniel Lowe.

It would stay that way until the bottom of the 7th when the Brooklyn bats finally awoke from their slumber. Pete Alonso, making his professional debut, lead the charge, knocking a double to centerfield for his first hit. He quickly found his way home, as Blake Tiberi came up to blast a triple to right field and knot the score at 1-1. Ali Sanchez followed with a single of his own to push home Tiberi and give the Cyclones a 2-1 advantage heading to the eighth.

Gonzalez struck out five and allowed eight hits in 5.1 innings pitched before tossing the ball to RHP Alejandro Castro and Austin McGeorge who combined for 1.2 scoreless innings in relief.

The Cyclones bullpen has been the strength of Brooklyn’s team this season, but Adam Atkins (0-1), who hadn’t allowed hit over his first three outings of the season, ran into trouble in the top of the eighth The righthander allowed four runs on four hits to turn a 2-1 Cyclones lead into a 5-2 deficit.

The Cyclones will look to return to their winning ways in the final game of the series and on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Don’t miss out on Sunday Funday, as there will be a stick ball demonstration on the field before the game and kids will get the chance to win the bases postgame. Tickets, which start at just $10, are still available by calling 718-507-TIXX, visiting BrooklynCyclones.com or in person at the MCU Park Box Office.
