CYCLONES HAVE A NIGHT TO FORGET IN BATAVIA

BATAVIA, NY -- July 6, 2016 -- Coming into Wednesday night's game, the Batavia Muckdogs had scored 10 runs in their previos five games. But this evening they erupted for 15 runs on 15 hits to run away with a 15-2 win. Brooklyn's only two runs scored on a fielding error on a groundball from Hengelbert Rojas.

Erik Manoah (1-1) had a rough outing as the Muckdogs were able to get their bats moving early. In the first inning the righthanded pitcher gave up consecutive singles followed by a home run over the left field fence by J.J. Gould to give the Muckdogs an early 3-0 lead.

Manoah's struggles continued into the second inning as he gave up a single and walked one before Aaron Knapp stroked an RBI single into left field to add one, 4-0. Eric Gutierrez then knocked a hard line drive double to center field driving in two more runs, 6-0, before Manoah was able to squeeze himself out of the inning.

A pitching change for the Cyclones… insert Raul Jacobson… did not keep the Muckdogs offense from moving, as they were able to tally another three runs in the fourth inning to up the score to 9-0.

The Cyclones only offense came in the fifth inning after Ali Sanchez cracked a hard ground ball to center field. Sanchez then attempted to steal second base and was able to advance to third after a throwing error by Batavia’s starting pitcher Jordan Holloway. Blake Tiberi and Brandon Brosher walked loading the bases and after consecutive strikeouts by Holloway. Hengelbert Rojas with two outs put the ball in play forcing an error by shortstop Gould giving the Cyclones their only two runs of the game.

The Cyclones rotation was unable to find an answer for the Muckdogs bats as they were bale to string together two runs in each of the last three innings of play.

The Cyclones get to rest up tomorrow as they receive their first off day since the start of the season. Peter Alonso, Mets second round draft pick, is poised to join the Cyclones when they return to MCU Park on Friday to open a three-game series with the Hudson Valley Renegades. Friday night means fireworks on Coney Island, so be sure to stick around after the game for a post-game spectacular that will light up the sky. Tickets start at just $10 and are on sale now by calling 718-507-TIXX, logging on to BrooklynCyclones.com or in person at the MCU Park Box Office.
