Game Recaps

Norwich, CT – July 13 - Gabriel Ynoa gave the Cyclones another great effort going six innings, while giving up only one earned run, but thanks to a pair of defensive miscues, five runs scored. Through those six innings Ynoa gave up six hits, one walk and struck out four batters. The Connecticut Tigers would win game three of the series by a score of 5-2.

After Ynoa was able to retire the first six batters he faced, the third inning didn’t start well. Patrick Smith doubled to lead off the inning followed up by a dropped foul pop up by Alex Sanchez off the bat of Bennett Pickar. Ynoa would then give up his lone walk of the night to Bennett to put runners on first and second with no out. Luis Cortez would sacrifice bunt to move the runners up with one out. Jake Steward would then hit a two-run double to give the Tigers an early lead. After a ground out off the bat of Tyler Hanover, Danny Vasquez singled to right fielder Jonathan Clark scoring Stewart. Another single would put runners on the corners with one out bringing up Devon Travis. He would then single to right field scoring Vasquez and on a throwing error by Clark, Juaner Aguasvivas scored. With the help of two errors the Tigers were able to take a 5-0 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish.

The Cyclones would try and start a comeback in the fifth inning, as Brandon Nimmo would single with one out. After a Nelfi Zapata pop out, Clark would walk to move Nimmo to second. Juan Gamboa then singled back up the middle to score Nimmo and Clark because center fielder, Jake Stewart misplayed the ball allowing Clark to score all way from first on a single. However, that is all the offense the Cyclones bats could put together as they had a total of six hits through the game.

The Cyclones will go to State College to begin a three game series with the Spikes before returning to Brooklyn on Tuesday, June 17th against Hudson Valley at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available now by visiting the MCU box office, calling 718-507-TIXX, or CLICKING HERE.
