CYCLONES FALL TO TIGERS, 1-0![]() Brooklyn, NY – July 11th – The Cyclones began a six-game road trip with a 1-0 loss to the Connecticut Tigers Wednesday night. The defeat was the fourth in a row for the first place Cyclones. Julio Hilario, who started on the mound for Brooklyn, battled Connecticut starting pitcher Hua-Wei Lo for 6.0 innings. Hilario allowed just one earned run off six hits with no walks and five strikeouts. In the bottom of the third, Hilario got the first batter, Patrick Smith to strike out swinging. Following, Bennett Pickar grounded out to Cyclones shortstop Phillip Evans. Brett Harrison then singled on a line drive to left field, before being plated on a double to center, hit off the bat of Jake Stewart. Another single was given up, this time to Tyler Hanover, but Hilario escaped the inning, having surrendered just the one run as he got Danry Vasquez to fly out to right field. Lo went 6.0 innings for the Tigers, holding Brooklyn batters to just three hits. He earned his first win of the season, walking three and striking out five. Cyclones third baseman Alex Sanchez went 2-for-3 on the night, with a single and a double. The other Brooklyn hit came from Phillip Evans, who led off the top of the fourth inning with a single. The Cyclones left seven men on base and were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Working out of the bullpen, Matt Koch threw 1.2 scoreless innings. He allowed just one hit and struck out three. Tyler Vanderheiden also made an appearance on the mound, as he came into the game with two outs and a runner at second base in the top of the ninth. Vanderheiden got Vasquez to hit a pop up to the shortstop for the final out. The Cyclones will look to rebound against the Tigers in Connecticut tomorrow, July 12th. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. The Cyclones will return home to MCU Park on Tuesday, July 17 to face the Hudson Valley Renegades at 7:00 PM.
