BATS FALL SILENT IN HUDSON VALLEY

The Cyclones (30-15) managed only one run on six hits against the Renegades (22-20) on Tuesday night, losing to Hudson Valley by a score of 9-1.  Brooklyn now leads Hudson Valley by 6.5 games in the McNamara Division.

LHP Mitch Houck (pictured, by George Napolitano) suffered his first loss of the season, surrendering four runs on eight hits over four innings. LHP Nelson Pereira provided three innings in relief of Houck, allowing one run while striking out five. RHP Samuel Taveras entered in the eighth inning and gave up four runs while only recording one out. LHP Brian Needham finished the eighth for Brooklyn.

Brooklyn could not get anything going against the Rays' 2010 second-round draft pick, Jacob Thompson, who held the Cyclones scoreless through five. Brooklyn mustered only one extra-base hit against Hudson Valley -- a solo shot over the left-field wall by SS Rylan Sandoval in the eighth inning. 1B Jeff Flagg registered two singles for the Cyclones, who had only seven baserunners all game.

The Cyclones return home on Wednesday, August 4th  to take on the Batavia Muckdogs in the first of a three-game series at 7pm.  That night is Weiner Wednesday, and fans can take advantage of Buy One, Get One Free sausages.  Wednesday is also a Salute to The Office, with "Office Olympics" and Dunder-Mifflin-themed entertainment throughout the night.
