Brooklyn lost the series opener to State College, 1-0, despite outstanding pitching and the return of 2001 hero Angel Pagan. The Cyclones managed only three hits, and for the second time this season were held scoreless. The Cyclones have now lost five straight games.OF Angel Pagan returned to Brooklyn and made his first rehab start for the Cyclones, having injured his shoulder making a spectacular catch for the Mets on May 7th. He went 0 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base (Pagan leads the Cyclones with 31 swipes all-time). 3B Zach Lutz, C Jordan Abruzzo and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis each collected hits.1B Ike Davis went 0 for 3, ending his 15-game hitting streak.
RHP Scott Shaw (1-1) made his fourth start of year. Shaw (pictured, by George Napolitano) pitched six strong innings, allowing just one run and striking out six. RHP Chris Schwinden followed Shaw, and allowed just one hit over a scoreless final three innings.
