and Ike Davis
both made successful Brooklyn debuts on Thursday, and the Cyclones beat the IronBirds 4-2. Church joined the Cyclones as part of a rehab assignment on his way back to the Mets, and Davis reported to Brooklyn after being selected by the Mets with the team's first pick in the recent June draft.
Church went 3-for-3, with two infield singles a two-run double, scoring one run, and driving one in. Davis blasted a double off the left-center wall in his first professional at-bat and also scored a run. The Cyclones bats banged out a season-high 15 hits.
RHP Brad Holt (1-1) made his first appearance at home, and second start of the season. Holt was dominant, throwing five no-hit innings, walking one and striking out six, before leaving the game due to a pitch count. Brandon Moore, Montero Cruz, Matias Carrillo all followed Holt, while Yury Santana got the last four outs of the game, picking up his league leading fourth save of the season.
The Cyclones continue their series against the IronBirds on Friday, when Brooklyn kicks off Friday Night Fireworks at KeySpan Park, and Ryan Church is scheduled to play for the Cyclones again.
Stay in your seats for an amazing view of the spectacular fireworks over the Atlantic Ocean. Game presented by Nestle. Don't miss out on one of the great Brooklyn traditions of the summer -- baseball and fireworks!
