As part of MiLB's CommUNITY initiative the Cyclones hosted their 2nd annual "Help the Hungry" event on Thursday, August 30th! Together, with Cyclones players, staff, community members, season ticket holders and fans, we upped our goal from last year and made over 2,000 Peanut Butter & Jelly and Ham & Cheese sandwiches. Sandwiches were later distributed to food pantries and shelters throughout Brooklyn, including, City Harvest, Salt & Sea Mission, Reaching Out, Trinity Rescue and Surf Manor.
For the second year in a row we were proud to partner with Erin Dinan and One Sandwich at a Time, whose mission is simple . . . "feed the growing homeless and underfed population in America - One Sandwich at a Time. We believe that when we come together as a community for change, we can make a big impact on this world. We focus on utilizing our most valuable resources, our own two hands, to create change within our community." In addition to our partnership with OSAAT, we were excited to welcome a new partner to help combat hunger. Our local Kmart jumped on board this year and kindly provided all of the supplies needed to host a successful event and even provided lunch boxes and endless amounts of water that were donated to our local food pantries.
The event is a simple one, but it makes a powerful impact and shows that with teamwork and community anything is possible!
