CYCLONES LOSE RUBBER GAME

Box Score

The Brooklyn Cyclones (18-9) lost at home to the Williamsport Crosscutters (15-12) 3-1 on ‘Camp Day’ -- the Cyclones’ only day-game start of the season, the game started at noon.

LHP Jim Fuller (3-2) was the hard-luck loser, despite a strong performance in which he allowed two runs on three hits in six innings of work, and struck out a season-high nine batters.  Although he allowed a run in the first inning, Fuller (pictured by George Napolitano) settled down and recorded six strikeouts through the first three innings.  Fuller was charged with two runs and walked only one batter.

RHP Erik Turgeon relieved Fuller to start the seventh inning.  Turgeon pitched two innings of relief allowing one run on two hits.  Turgeon recorded two strikeouts and walked one batter.  RHP Michael Johnson pitched the ninth inning, and allowed one hit and one walk but no runs.

The Cyclones' offense mustered just one run on four hits.  With the bases loaded an no outs 1B Sam Honeck grounded into a double play which scored the team's lone run, and at the time tied the game at 1-1.   CF Justin Garber had two singles on the day, the other two hits were singles from 3B Andy Green and the Mets' second-round draft pick in  2009, SS Robbie Shields.

The Cyclones start their series versus the Auburn Doubledays Friday night (7/17) in front of a crowd filled with some of New York's bravest.  The Cyclones celebrate the first of four 'Civil Servant Appreciation' Nights with FDNY Night on Friday, presented by Municipal Credit Union.  Festivities also include a post-game fireworks show.
