The Cyclones lost their third straight game, and second to the Jammers as they get shutout 2-0. It was the first Cyclones shutout lost of the year, it brings Brooklyn
under .500 with an 11-12 record.
RHP Tim Stronach (2-3) made his fifth start of the year, and pitched four innings, allowing two unearned runs while striking out six batters. LHP Manuel Olivares, LHP Roy Merritt and RHP Wendy Rosa all followed and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits.
Brooklyn, however, could not muster enough offense to make the pitching effort stand up, totaling just four hits. Both 1B Ike Davis and CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis extended their personal hitting streaks, Davis extending his to 14 games and Nieuwenhuis to six. SS Anderson Machado and 3B Eric Campbell also each added a hit.
The Cyclones conclude their series against the Jamestown Jammers on Friday. They return home on Saturday for a big weekend at the ballpark featuring a Salute to Billy Joel, a replica jersey, pork rind sculptures, and Boomer & Carton!
