SS Colby Woodmansee, RHP Harol Gonzalez and 1B Pete Alonso have been named to the NYPL All-Star Team and will represent the Cyclones on Tuesday, August 16th in Hudson Valley.
SS Colby Woodmansee was selected in the 5th Round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Arizona State University. The slick fielding shortstop leads all NYPL in fielding percentage and has been charged with just three errors in 169 total chances at shortstop. The 21-year-old is batting .273 (31-157) with two home runs and 18 RBI in 44 games with Brooklyn this season.
RHP Harol Gonzalez has been the ace of the Cyclones staff all season. The righthander is 4-1 with a 1.77 ERA (11 ER / 56.0 IP) with 67 strikeouts. Gonzalez leads the NYPL in strikeouts, ranks fourth in ERA, lead the league with a 10.77 K-per-9 and ranks second in the league in WHIP (0.88).
1B Pete Alonso was selected in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of the University of Florida. The slugger is tied for the team lead in home runs (4) and RBI (18) in 28 games. The 21-year-old is batting .300 (30-100) and the Cyclones are 10-0 when he has an RBI in a game. Alonso also has a 1.000 fielding percentage and has not committed an error in 221 total chances at first base.
The trio of Cyclones will head to Dutchess Stadium, home of the Hudson Valley Renegades, on Tuesday, August 19th for the 12th Annual NYPL All-Star Game. The Brooklyn All-Stars will be on the South All-Star Squad.
