Started his first professional season in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League in 2008 where he allowed only one earned run over 8.1 innings in six relief appearances. Was 1-0 with one save in two save opportunities before he was promoted to Class-A Savannah on August 27th 2008. As a sophomore at Central Florida, Houck was selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team, contributed seven innings to a no-hitter vs. Wagner, and struck out 71 batters in only 56.0 innings over the course of the season.
