Figuereo was signed by the Washington Nationals as a non-drafted free agent in 2004 and was acquired by the Mets in 2009 during the Double-A phase of the 2009 Rule V Draft.

 

Figuereo spent the 2009 season with the Vermont Lake Monsters appearing in 17 games striking out 23 batters in 24.2 innings with a 2.92 ERA. He began his career as a third baseman before converting to the pitching rubber in 2007.
