Bryant and Diro send Cyclones to sweep

 

 

CONEY ISLAND, NY (July 15, 2019) – Garrison Bryant earned the win and Anthony Dirocie went deep as Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, swept the West Virginia Black Bears with a 4-0 victory during Kids Camp Day Monday morning at MCU Park.

BIG MOMENTS

  • Garrison Bryant earned his second Cyclones victory, striking out a career-high-tying seven batters over five scoreless innings. He did not allow a hit until the fifth inning.
  • Anthony Dirocie went 2-3 with three RBIs, driving in Nic Gaddis on an RBI single in the second, and blasting a two-run homer in the seventh to push the lead to 4-0.
  • Corey Gaconi, Jared Biddy, and Justin Lasko combined for four scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory.

  • West Virginia manager Drew Saylor was ejected arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Ethan Gorsky in the sixth inning. He is the first visiting manager ejected in a Cyclones game this season.
  • Brooklyn won five of six games on the homestand, allowing six runs in six games.
  • After a league-wide off day Tuesday, Brooklyn heads on the road for a six-game road trip to Hudson Valley and Connecticut starting Wednesday.
