Cyclones swept by Staten Island 11-1

 

CONEY ISLAND, NY (June 23, 2019) – Staten Island’s Josh Maciejewski shut things down over 5 1/3 scoreless innings as the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season Class A affiliate of the New York Mets lost 5-0 Sunday at MCU Park. With the loss, the Cyclones suffered their first sweep of the season.

BIG MOMENTS

  • Yankees starter Josh Maciejewski struck out a career-high seven over 5 1/3 scoreless innings, defeating the Cyclones to secure the sweep.
  • Oswald Peraza went 3-5 with a double, triple, and three RBIs, and Isaiah Pasteur tripled in three to help the Yankees tally 11 runs.
  • Syracuse Mets rehabber Gavin Cecchini doubled in three at-bats, going 1-3. Cecchini played with Brooklyn for the first time since 2013.
  • Zach Rheams drilled a solo homer over the right field fence in his first at-bat in the ninth inning, cutting the deficit to 11-1.
