Vilera Dominant Again as BKLYN Tops WV 7-1

GRANVILLE, W.V. (July 29, 2018) – For the fourth consecutive start, Jaison Vilera  pitched scoreless baseball, this time leading the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, to a 7-1 win over West Virginia Sunday afternoon at Monongalia County Ballpark in the series finale.

BIG MOMENTS

  • Jaison Vilera struck out eight batters over seven shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks, lowering his ERA to a league-leading 0.78 mark. Vilera finished strong, striking out four of the final six batters he faced for his fifth win.
  • Chase Chambers doubled and scored as part of a three-run eighth inning for the Cyclones, pushing the lead to 7-0.
  • Brooklyn jumped out to a 3-0 advantage, thanks to a trio of runs in the third inning. Wagner Lagrange’s RBI double capped the rally.

  • Brooklyn won the series, taking the rubber game. For the six-game road trip, the Cyclones went 3-3 against West Virginia and Mahoning Valley.
  • Jaison Vilera extended his scoreless streak to 28.2 innings, amassing four starts. The righty has not allowed a run since July 5.
  • The Cyclones outscored the Black Bears 16-7 over the three-game series.
