Cyclones Squander Chances in 5-2 Loss

GRANVILLE, W.V. (July 28, 2018) – The Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, stranded 11 runners and went 1-13 with runners in scoring position, missing their chances in a 5-2 loss to the West Virginia Black Bears Saturday night at Monongalia County Ballpark to even the three-game set at one game apiece.

BIG MOMENTS

  • Trailing 2-0 into the top of the fifth, Anthony Dirocie clocked an RBI double to left field to put the Cyclones on the board. Chase Chambers’ sac fly in the seventh cut the deficit to 3-2.
  • Brooklyn spoiled several chances with runners aboard, stranding the bases loaded in the fourth inning when Manny Rodriguez and Ross Adolph both struck out.
  • West Virginia first baseman Luke Mangieri blasted a solo homer against Briam Campusano in the first inning, and drove in the final run on a run-scoring single in the eighth to push the lead to 5-2.
