Norwich, CT – July 20, 2017 – After taking two of three from the Staten Island Yankees, the Brooklyn Cyclones kicked off a three-game road trip with a 6-4 win against the Connecticut Tigers. For the first time this season, the Cyclones have won three games in a row. Brooklyn’s most recent win showed all the improvements of a team getting on a roll.

Trent Johnson was on the mound for BKLYN and limited the Tigers to one run, despite allowing seven hits and two walks in 5.2 innings of work. Johnson’s only major mistake came in the fourth, as Jordan Pearce launched a homerun to right field. The Tigers threatened to take the lead as Randel Alcantara doubled and attempted to score on a single to center field. Quinn Brodey fired the home and Scott Manea tagged out the would be go-ahead run.

Trey Cobb continued his marvelous start to the season has he pitched 1.2 perfect innings while striking out two. Chriss Viall made his second appearance of the year and worked out of an eighth inning jam to preserve the lead.

Brooklyn opened the scoring in the second as Manea scored Brodey with a RBI groundout. In the sixth, the Cyclones again manufactured a run as Walter Rasquin hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Dylan Snypes. Brodey delivered a sac fly of his own and brought in Snypes again.

The Cyclones carried a 3-1 lead into the ninth, with Viall staying in the game. After recording the first out, Cole Peters singled and Luke Burch walked, putting the lead in jeopardy. Keaton Aldridge entered the game to record the save, but a double steal put runners on second and third with one out. Garret McCain walked and the bases were stocked with Tigers. Aldridge got Colby Bortles to strike out but Reynaldo Rivera knocked a single up the middle to tie the game at three. Aldridge escaped a jam in the bottom of the 10th. With a runner second and one out, Aldridge was able to push the game an extra inning.

In the eleventh, a dormant Cyclone offense kicked into gear and tattooed the Tiger bullpen with three runs.  Edgardo Fermin knocked in Leon Byrd with an RBI single. With runners on second and third, Snypes continued his effective night with a crucial two-RBI single to give Kurtis Horne a three-run cushion going into the bottom of the inning.

The Tigers would scratch one run across but not extend the game for a second time. Brooklyn’s third-straight victory was also their fifth straight game without committing an error. The Cyclones will look to win their second series in a row with a win in the middle game of the three-game set.
