BKLYN ERROR LEADS TO RENEGADES RALLY, FALL 3-2

FISHKILL, NY – July 17, 2016 – The Cyclones dropped the rubber-match of a three game set on Tuesday night, falling to the Hudson Valley Renegades 3-2. A critial error in the fifth led to a Renegades rally that resulted in the game-tying and go-ahead run. Brooklyn went 0-for-10 with RISP as their offensive struggles continues. Brooklyn has now lost five of their last six games.

The game was scoreless through the first two innings before Brooklyn’s Colby Woodmansee knocked a sacrifice fly to center field that sent Gene Cone home for the first score of the night. The lead did not last long as the Renegades offense quickly answered the Cyclones call when Landon Cray scored on a Ryan Boldt RBI-single.

The Cyclones took a 2-1 lead after Cone scored his second run of the night when he blasted a triple to center field that was followed by a sacrifice fly to right by Michael Paez to start the fifth inning.

The see-saw scoring continued, but this time Hudson Valley was able to one up Brooklyn. Miles Mastrobuoni opened up the bottom of the fifth with a bunt up the 1st base fline. Joe Olson reached base and Mastrobuoni moved to third after a ground ball to Nick Sergakis that looked like a double-play ball eluded the second baseman . Bill Pujols set down a bunt that loaded the bases before Boldt hit a two-RBI double that gave the Renegades a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish.

RHP Gabriel Llanes (1-4) held his own Tuesday night throwing 6.0 innings while giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits, with no walks while striking out three.

The Cyclones will enjoy an off day tomorrow before returning to MCU Park Thursday night for Jersday Thursday as they take on the Aberdeen Ironbirds in game one of a three-game series.
