Burlington, VT – August 18th -- After last nights offensive explosion of 12 runs on 10 hits, the Cyclones bats fall silent as they manage only five hits in a loss to the Lake Monsters, 4-1.

Kelvin Rojas led off the inning with a single to right and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Christopher Bostick. Brett Vertigan then beat out an infield single to shortstop Phillip Evans allowing Rojas to move to third. John Wooten then grounded out to Mateo, allowing Vertigan to go to second with two outs. Bruce Maxwell then singled to center scoring Rojas and Vertigan, giving the Lake Monsters the early 2-0 lead.

Paul Sewald came in relief of Mateo to start the sixth inning and shut the Lake Monsters down. However, in the seventh inning Vermont was able to score the first and second runs of the season off of Sewald to extend the lead to 4-0.

The Cyclones offense was able to push across a run in the top of the eighth inning off of Tucker Healy. Juan Gamboa led the inning off with a single to center and moved to third on a single to right by Jeff Glenn.
