WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY -- JUNE 26 --The Cyclones received a strong start from Luis Cessa, but it was spoiled by three unearned runs in the seventh inning, as the Cyclones fell to the Hudson Valley Renegades, 4-2. Heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Cyclones led 2-1 but a pair of errors put the Renegades on top for good.
The Cyclones were first to strike as they scored two runs in the second inning. Kevin Plawecki led off the inning with a walk, which was followed up by a Stefan Sabol single to left field. Jeff Glenn walked and the bases were loaded no outs. Cole Frenzel came up to the plate and ripped a single to center field scoring Plawecki, and moving each runner up one base. After Dimas Ponce struck out, Eudy Pina singled to left field and Sabol scored making the game 2-0.
After Cessa gave up one run to Hudson Valley in the third, the righthander kept the Renegades off the board before turning it over to the bullpen. After Darwin Frias pitched a scoreless sixth inning, he ran into trouble in the seventh. After a one-out single by Justin O’Conner, Frias walked Leonardo Reginatto putting the tying run on second base. The next batter was Thomas Coyle and he hit in the direction of the sure-handed first baseman Cole Frenzel, but when the former Arizona Wildcat tried to turn two, his throw to second eluded Phillip Evans and went sailing into left field allowing the tying run to score. A wild pitch to Deshun Dixon allowed Reginatto to cross the plate and put Hudson Valley up 3-2. After a sacrific fly from Thomas Coyle pushed across another run, the Renegades took control for good, 4-2.
