The Cyclones' 2010 roster was unveiled on Wednesday, and features both new faces and familiar ones. A total of 29 players are on the pre-season roster -- 15 pitchers, six infielders, six outfielders, and two catchers.
Eight players have previously spent time with the Cyclones and return for a second tour of duty -- 1B Joe Bonfe, C Juan Centeno, LHP Angel Cuan, OF R.J. Harris, LHP Chris Hilliard, RHP Pedro P. Martinez, 2B James Schroeder, and RHP Wes Wrenn.
The highest 2010 draft pick assigned to Brooklyn is OF Cory Vaughn, who was selected by the Mets in the 4th round of the First-Year Player Draft just last week. Vaughn is a player with a big-league lineage; his father, Greg, was a slugger who finished his 15-year major league career with 355 home runs. Cory was drafted out of San Diego State University, where he played for head coach (and Hall of Famer) Tony Gwynn, and with Washington Nationals phenom Stephen Strasburg.
Fans are invited to meet the 2010 Cyclones on Thursday at Prospect Park! The team will be at the baseball fields near the 9th Street entrance (off Prospect Park West) at 5:30pm!
