The Brooklyn Cyclones (45-29) used a dramatic ninth-inning rally to walk off with a 4-3 win over the Lowell Spinners (44-30), thanks to a game-winning RBI single by Carlos Beltran.
RHP Darin Gorski started for the Cyclones and tossed 5.2 strong innings for the playoff-bound Cyclones. Gorski surrendered a home run to the second batter of the game, but did not allow another hit throughout the remainder of his time on the mound. Gorski walked four batters and struck out seven.
Brooklyn had 11 hits in the game, scoring single runs in the first, third, sixth, and ninth innings. DH Ralph Henriquez continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-4 with a run scored. 2B Jordany Valdespin notched two hits, and 1b Sam Honeck, RF Luis Rivera, LF Nick Santomauro, C Dock Doyle, SS Robbie Shields, and Beltran chipped in with one apiece.
Shields got Brooklyn's ninth-inning rally started with a one-out single. Valdespin singled to give the Cyclones first and third, before Beltran delivered a sharp single over the first baseman to cap the win.
The Cyclones finish the regular season on Sunday, September 6th, with Fan Appreciation Day. Carlos Beltran is again scheduled to play in Brooklyn for the Cyclones, and fans are invited to stay in their seats for the last Coney Island fireworks show of the summer.
