THREE CYCLONES GET INVITES

Three former Cyclones pitchers -- Tobi Stoner, Dillon Gee, and Michael Antonini (l-r) -- have been invited to major league Spring Training with the Mets.

Stoner was selected by the Mets in the 16th round of the 2006 draft, and spent the '06 season with the Cyclones, going 6-2 with a 2.15 ERA -- fourth best in the NYPL -- in 14 games (all starts).  The righthander also racked up a team-high 62 strikeouts in a team-high 83.2 innings pitched.  In 2008, the 24-year-old was 1-5 with a 2.60 ERA in nine starts for the Mets’ St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League and 4-6 with a 4.33 ERA in 15 starts for Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League.

Gee was selected by the Mets in the 21st round of the 2007 draft, and spent the '07 season with the Cyclones.  Gee was one of the stars of the league-leading pitching staff, going 3-1 with a 2.47 ERA -- good for sixth-best in the NYPL -- in 14 games (11 starts).  Gee allowed one run or less in seven of his 11 starts, and showcased impeccable control, striking out 56 batters while walking just nine in 62 innings.  In 2008, the 22-year-old righthander posted an 8-6 record and a 3.25 ERA in 21 contests for St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League. He was also 2-0 with a 1.44 ERA in four games for Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League. He was named to the FSL All Star Team and selected the Sterling Award Winner at St. Lucie, emblematic of the top players on his club.

Antonini was selected by the Mets in the 18th round of the 2007 draft, and joined the Cyclones after beginning the season with Kingsport (R).  For Brooklyn, the lefthander went 0-0 with a 0.46 ERA in seven games (two starts), allowing just one earned run over 19.2 innings, while strikign out 12.  IN 2008, the 23-year-old pitched for three different Mets farm teams.  he went 4-4 with a 2.71 ERA in 13 starts for Savannah (A) of the South Atlantic League, then was 4-0 with a 1.84 in seven starts for St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League, and was 1-3 with a 3.74 in eight starts for Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League.
