CYCLONES STORM THE VALLEY

Box Score l Play-by-Play

Brooklyn poured on five runs in the last three innings on Sunday to defeat Tri-City, 8-3.  Jordan Abruzzo, Josh Satin, and Juan Lagares all bashed home runs in the victory, which improves the Cyclones to 35-28 on the season.

Staring pitcher Pedro P. Martinez lasted just one inning, and allowed two runs, but Brooklyn responded with a run in the second to cut the Valley Cats' lead in half.  Matias carrillo relieved Martinez, and allowed one run in three innings, before Wendy Rosa and Roy Merritt combined to shut down the Cats the rest of the way.

With the Cyclones trailing 3-1 in the fourth, Abruzzo hit his fourth home run of the year.  An inning later, Brooklyn tied the game when Seth Williams doubled home Sean Ratliff, who had doubled himself, earlier in the frame.

With the score still knotted in the seventh, Satin (pictured, by George Napolitano) belted his fourth home run, a solo shot that put the Cyclones on top for good.  In the eighth, Ike Davis doubled hom another run before Lagares hit his first home run of the year to give the Cyclones even more cushion.  In the ninth, Williams doubled home one more run for good measure to cap the scoring.

The Cyclones will travel to Tri-City for a three-game series before they return home on Wednesday, August 27 to play the Oneonta Tigers at 7:00 pm when it will be Nut-Free Night.
