BROOKLYN CYCLONES CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Are you looking for a career in the sports industry?  Well here's your chance.  The Brooklyn Cyclones are currently hiring for full-time positions as well as summer internships for the 2014 season. 

 

The Brooklyn Cyclones are the Class A affiliate of the New York Mets and are located in the historic amusement district of Coney Island, NY. The Cyclones have led the league in attendance every year of our existence and routinely draw capacity crowds. The Cyclones are known for our unique promotions that gain both local and national media attention. The team received four NYPL and MiLB awards & nominations this season including the prestigious Vincent McNamara Outstanding Club Award. Former staff members have gone on to work for Major League teams and facilities throughout the industry.

The Cyclones are currently hiring several Full Time Ticket Account Executives.

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE-TICKETS

Responsibilities include:

1. ASSIST IN THE RENEWALS OF MINI-PLAN, SEASON TICKET AND GROUPS FROM PRIOR SEASON.

2. GENERATE NEW MINI-PLAN AND SEASON TICKET ACCOUNTS.

3. GENERATE NEW GROUP SALES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PICNICS, BIRTHDAY PARTIES, FUNDRAISERS THROUGH COLD-CALLING AND NETWORKING.

4. COORDINATE GROUP THEME NIGHT EVENTS AND GENERATE GROUP SALES FOR THESE NIGHTS.

5. RESPONSIBLE FOR GREETING GROUPS AND SERVICING OF ALL GROUPS ATTENDING GAME.

6. ATTEND COMMUNITY, BUSINESS MEETINGS AND EVENTS TO GENERATE LEADS.

7. ATTEND LITTLE LEAGUE OPENING DAYS AND SIMILAR EVENTS.

8. OPERATE TICKET OFFICE AS SCHEDULED ON WEEKENDS AND SPECIAL EVENTS.

9. MANAGE PAPERWORK AND ORDERS IN THE TICKETING SYSTEM AS ASSIGNED.

10. KEEP ACCURATE RECORDS OF CALLS MADE AND TICKET PACKAGES SOLD.

11. CUSTOMER SERVICE-WORK WITH & ASSIST FANS WHO PURCHASE TICKETS IN PERSON AND ON THE PHONE IN A PROFESSIONAL AND COURTESOUS MANNER.

12. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY GM, AGM AND TICKET OFFICE MANAGERS.

13. MEET A PERSONAL SALES REVENUE GOAL BY DEVELPING NEW RELATIONSHIPS AND GROWING EXISTING RELATIONSHIPS.

14. IMPLEMENT SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY TO EXPAND AWARENESS OF PARTICIPATING IN CYCLONES GAME EXPERIENCES.

Qualifications

  • A QUALIFIED CANDIATE MUST HAVE A BACHELOR’S DEGREE AND AT LEASET ONE YEAR OF SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE IN TICKET SALES WITHIN MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL OR COMPARABLE ENTITY.
  • MUST POSSESS EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS WITH THE ABILITY TO HAVE EFFECTIVE AND FREQUENT DIALOGUE WITH CLIENTS, SALES TEAM, SALES MANAGER, AND LEADERSHIP TEAM.
  • MUST HAVE STRONG WORK ETHIC AND BE HIGHLY MOTIVATED WITH THE ABILTY TO EXCEL IN FAST-PACED, TEAM ENVIRONMENT AS WELL AS POSSESS AN UNWAVERING POSITIVE ATTITUDE. MUST HAVE ABILITY TO WORK EVENINGS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.


MUST HAVE OR BE ABLE TO SECURE HOUSING IN THE NYC AREA.

COMPENSATION: BASE PAY PLUS COMMISSION

Ticket Office Intern

Job Description:
A chance to be a part of a true “team” environment, where each role played is very important. The ticket office intern will help with all aspects of ticketing. Responsibilities to include, but not limited to: assist with all sales functions – mailing, booking, processing orders, date entry, working at sales windows and assisting the Account Executives and Managers with game day preparations.
experience Required:
•Excellent customer service skills •Excellent verbal communication skills •Ability to work under pressure •Prior use of Paciolan or similar ticket system preferred •Previous box office experience preferred •Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions and balance a simple bank •Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer •Must be available for the entire duration of the position

 

Marketing Intern

Job Description:
The ideal candidates should possess excellent communication, computer and organizational skills, work well with minimal supervision, have an exceptional customer service aptitude, and be a committed team player willing to work a minimum of 40 hours per week plus evenings and weekend.
experience Required:
•Background in communications, marketing, PR, sports administration or related field •Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer •Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in pressure situations •Individual must be detail-oriented and a self-starter •Must be available for the entire duration of the position

 

Public Relations Intern

Job Description:
The individual will provide support for the full-time members of the media relations department. This individual will also assist with the daily duties of the department, which may include, but are not limited to: - Providing Content and Player Features for BrooklynCyclones.com as well as the Cyclones Gameday Program - Responsible for post-game summaries and recaps written for the web and distribution to local media. - Updating game notes for use on radio and television content as well as by additional daily and weekly media outlets. - Monitor and provide content for social media sites. - Serve as a liaison between Brooklyn Cyclones players and media, setting up interviews and following through to make sure they are completed.
experience Required:
- Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing Major is preferred. - Strong background in writing. - Interested parties must have housing available in the NYC area.

 

Video Production

Job Description:
The Brooklyn Cyclones are looking for a Video Coordinator to assist in the production of in-game entertainment at MCU Park. The Video Coordinator will provide content for the video board including, but not limited to, advertisements, players features, and other game-related content. Interested candidates should have the following experience:
experience Required:
-- Knowledge of Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro -- High Proficiency in photoshop a must -- Able to work quickly and independently in a fast paced, high stress environment -- Able to work long hours, including weekends and holidays. -- Applicants must have housing available in NYC.
