CYCLONES RECEIVE NYPL HONORS

The New York-Penn League has announced their league award winners for the 2013 season and the Brooklyn Cyclones are well represented. League President, Ben J. Hayes, made the announcements earlier this week.

The Cyclones received the Vincent McNamara Outstanding Club Award, which is presented annually to the club that best exemplifies the exceptional standards of the complete baseball franchise in the areas of long-term franchise stability, contribution and promotion of the baseball industry, as well as contributions to the community and financial success of operations. The award is voted upon by each of the 14 teams in the New York-Penn League. It is the first time since 2009, and the third time in franchise history, that Brooklyn has received this prestigious award.

In addition, the Cyclones have been named the NYPL's nominee for the John H. Johnson President's trophy -- the top honor awarded by Minor League Baseball to one of its 176 member clubs in 18 leagues across the United States and Canada.

"Winning the McNamara Award and being chosen as a nominee for the John H. Johnson Award are tremendous honors," said Cyclones General Manager Steve Cohen. "It is a tribute to the tireless efforts of everyone in our front office staff, as well as our game day crew, and the unwavering passion and loyalty of the Brooklyn fans. We'd like to thank everyone who's been a part of the Cyclones experience over the last 13 years because each and every person involved has helped make a trip to MCU Park a memorable experience."

The Cyclones were also the first-ever New York-Penn League nominee for the John Henry Moss Community Service Award, which will be given out for the first time in 2013. In addition, Cyclones General Manager Steve Cohen was named the recipient of the Hon. Robert F. Julian Community & Baseball Service Award, as well as the Robert Stedler Executive of the Year Award and is the NYPL’s nominee for MiLB’s Executive of the Year.

All winners will be honored at the 2013 Winter Meetings, held at the Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, FL from December 9th-12th.
