FROM BROOKLYN TO QUEENS

The trip from MCU Park to Citi Field is about 20 miles, and takes 30-40 minutes without traffic.  For the minor leaguers whose professional careers pass through Brooklyn, though, that final destination can seem both much closer and much farther away at the same time.

The Cyclones are one of seven domestic minor-league affiliates of the New York Mets, with over 200 players each year climbing the various steps of that "ladder" towards the major leagues.

Almost 400 players have taken the field for the Brooklyn Cyclones in the team's 10-year history, and 28 of those players have gone on to appear in a major league game.  Some have played in one inning, and others have been MLB All-Stars, but all of them have at one time gotten that call that makes their dreams come true.

Currently, there are seven former Cyclones in uniform for the Mets -- Jenrry Mejia, Lucas Duda, Angel Pagan, Nick Evans, Ike Davis, Dillon Gee, and Bobby Parnell (pictured, l-r, by George Napolitano).  Seven Cyclones alum marks the most-ever number of former Brooklyn players on the Mets at the same time.

Five other alum on active rosters -- Brian Bannister (KC), Drew Butera (MIN), Scott Kazmir (LAA), Matt Lindstrom (HOU, and Joe Smith (CLE) -- gives Brooklyn 12 former players in the big leagues.
