CECILIANI BREAKS TRIPLE RECORD IN WIN

Box Score

The Brooklyn Cyclones (26-13) took the first game against the Aberdeen Ironbirds (21-18) on July 28th by the score of 7-2. Brooklyn's offense has scored 1.8 fewer runs on the road this season, but put together 12 hits to score seven runs in Aberdeen on Wednesday night. The win pushed Brooklyn's lead in the McNamara divison to five games over the Ironbirds.

Reliever-turned starter A.J. Pinera stalled the Ironbirds offense over four innings, surrendering one earned run on five hits. Since joining the rotation in early July, Pinera has a 2.00 ERA in four career starts. Wes Wrenn earned the win with four crucial scoreless innings, allowing only two hits. RHP Johan Figuereo tossed a perfect ninth inning to cement the victory.

3B Joe Bonfe put the Cyclones ahead early with a two-run double to left field in the first inning. Bonfe entered the game ranked fifth in the league in batting average (.352) and finished the night with two hits and three RBI. CF Darrell Ceciliani broke the Brooklyn Cyclones' single-season triple record in the ninth inning with his eighth three-base hit of the season. SS Rylan Sandoval scored two runs on one hit and a walk and added his seventh stolen base. C Juan Centeno went 3-for-4, including an RBI double to deep center in the 8th inning.

The Cyclones return home on Saturday, July 31st  to again face the Staten Island Yankees at 6p.m.  That night the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a one-of-a-kind Sleeved Blanket, presented by Verizon Wireless.  A spectacular fireworks show from inside the ballpark will also follow the game.
