CYCLONES WIN AGAIN AT HOME

Box Score

The Cyclones fist-pumped their way to victory in the second of a three-game series against the Spinners on "Jersey? Sure!" night at MCU Park, winning by a score of 5-4.  The win is the eighth home victory in a row for Brooklyn, bringing the team's home record to 14-2 (22-11 overall) and increasing their first-place lead over the Staten Island Yankees to four games in the McNamara Division.

C Juan Centeno, who went 2-for-2 with two runs and a walk, led off in the bottom of the eighth with a single to right-centerfield, igniting a Cyclones late-inning rally.  Later in the eighth inning, CF Cory Vaughn came up with the bases loaded to hit a sacrifice fly to right field bringing Centeno home with the go-ahead run.  For the game, Vaughn was 1-for-2 with one RBI and two walks.  3B Joe Bonfe went 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk to bring his average up to a sizzling .358.  SS Rylan Sandoval registered two hits in five plate appearances and knocked in two RBI bringing his season total to 22.  LF Cody Holliday and 1B Jeff Flagg each went 1-for-4with Holliday registering one run and one RBI in the game.

Brooklyn's pitching held the Spinners to just four hits but fell victim to a few fielding blunders, making all four runs scored by Lowell unearned.  LHP Angel Cuan tossed 6.0 innings, allowing four runs on two hits while striking out five.  Cuan made two of the errors himself, tossing two comebackers over Flagg's head to allow Lowell to score. RHP Daniel Carela came on in the seventh inning to pitch 2.0 scoreless innings, surrendering just two hits with three strikeouts.  RHP Ryan Fraser earned his fifth save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth inning without allowing a hit to bring his season ERA to 0.63 through 14.1 innings.

The Cyclones finish up their series with the Lowell Spinners on Thursday at 12pm in one of the Cyclones' two day games of the year.
