Brooklyn scored two runs in the ninth inning to end a four-game skid, beating Jamestown by a score of 4-2 on Monday night.
SS Rylan Sandoval led the Cyclones offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. He set the tone in the first inning, leading off the game with his second round-tripper of the season, and in the ninth inning, Sandoval finished what he started, driving in the go-ahead run with a single. 1B Jeff Flagg continued his red-hot hitting, registering two hits -- a double and a triple -- to raise his average to a sizzling .366 on the season. RF Will Cherry also tallied two hits, going 2-for-4 and crossing the plate twice.
Cherry's double to lead off the ninth inning started the game-winning rally. He was moved to third on a bunt by Juan Centeno, before being singled home by Sandoval. LF Kurt Steinhauer was intentionally walked prior to Sandoval's at-bat as Jamestown tried to set up a double play. Steinhauer later scored an insurance run for Brooklyn on a wild pitch. 2B J.B Brown rounded out the offense, adding another hit for a team total of eight on the night.
RHP Johan Figuereo (1-1) picked up his first win of the season, pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth innings, striking out one without allowing a hit. LHP Angel Cuan started the game, and gave Brooklyn seven solid innings, in which he surrendered two runs on five hits with three walks while striking out three.
