BACK TO THE FUTURE

Cyclones fans pride themselves on being the first to see several of baseball's future stars.  More often than not, when a hot prospect comes up in conversation, even the most die-hard of Mets fans says "who?"   Brooklyn fans, on the other hand, say "I saw him first."

Daniel Murphy, Bobby Parnell, and Nick Evans (pictured, l-r) each played for the Cyclones on their way towards the big leagues, and are currently in the mix for Mets roster spots with MLB's Opening day just a week away.

Murphy is locked in, and Mets' manager Jerry Manuel has stated that Murphy will play the majority of left field, and will likely start the season as the number two hitter in a potent Mets lineup.  Murphy played for the Cyclones at the end of the 2006 regular season and into the playoffs that year, and returned to Brooklyn for a brief rehab assignment in 2008.

Parnell is fighting for a spot in the Mets' bullpen.  He was an All-Star for the Cyclones in 2005, and started the first-ever NYPL All-Star Game that year, which took place at KeySpan Park.  That season, Parnell was just 2-3 for Brooklyn, but led the league with a 1.73 ERA in 15 games.  In 73 innings, he struck out 67 batters.

Evans hopes to make the big club as a right-handed bat off the bench and a backup outfielder.  He, too, was a Cyclone in 2005, batting .252 in 57 games for Brooklyn that year.  Evans belted 11 doubles, three triples, and six home runs during his time with the team, playing first base.

The next generation of future stars will be in Brooklyn this summer, as the Cyclones open the season on June 19th.

Season Tickets, Mini Plans and Group Tickets are on sale now.  Individual game tickets will be available this spring
