On Thursday, June 19, Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt will be at KeySpan Park, in conjunction with Prostate Awareness Night. Schmidt will throw out the game's ceremonial first pitch, and will sign free autographs for a limited number of fans.
The first 2,000 fans into the ballpark will receive giant Mike Schmidt baseball cards (Schmidt will only sign autographs on the giant baseball cards).
Mike Schmidt was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995, after a career in which he hit 548 home runs and won 10 gold gloves. Schmidt was a 12-time All Star and three-time National League MVP. Over his career, Schmidt played in five League Championship Series and two World Series. He led the league in Home Runs eight times, RBI four times, Slugging Percentage five times, OPS five times, and Walks four times. Only Hank Aaron (15 times) hit 30 or more homers in a season more times than Mike (13). And only Babe Ruth (12 times) hit 35 homers or more than Mike (11).
