On Saturday, June 28th, the Cyclones held the 4th annual Take Your Base 5k run/walk, and raised over $22,000 in support of the fight against cancer, thanks to over 200 runners and walkers. TYB is a community and family event designed to raise awareness about, and highlight the importance of, screening and early detection of cancer.
Each year, the Cyclones team with the American Cancer Society to gather fans, players, coaches, front office members -- anyone who wants to walk the Coney Island boardwalk -- in support of a truly worthy cause.
"It was another successful walk" said Cyclones General Manager Steve Cohen, "and we thank everyone who participated. Each year, we keep getting more walkers, and raising more money, and it is our hope that the Cyclones are making a small contribution to a very big, ongoing battle."
