Wappingers Falls, NY – August 29th – The Cyclones rallied for four runs in the seventh inning and went on to defeat the Hudson Valley Renegades 7-4 on Wednesday night.

Hudson Valley took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Leonardo Reginatto walked with one out before Thomas Coyle singled on a ground ball to right. Richie Shaffer then also walked; and with the bases loaded, Luke Maile grounded into a force out to plate Reginatto.

The Cyclones evened things up in the second. Alex Sanchez led off the inning with a double. Jayce Boyd then reached on a fielding error by Hudson Valley first baseman Ryan Dunn. With Sanchez at third, Jorge Rivero grounded into a double play, however, the runner was able to score as the ball was hit to the pitcher and thrown to short.

The Renegades took the lead back in the following frame on one hit and two Cyclones’ errors. Reginatto reached on a fielding error by shortstop Phillip Evans, and following, Coyle reached on a throwing error by first baseman Boyd. Reginatto then crossed the plate for the second time when Shaffer singled to center field.

Brooklyn rallied in the seventh, scoring four runs to take a 5-2 advantage. A single by Evans, following by doubles by Sanchez and Boyd scored the first two runs of the inning. Then, Jorge Rivero walked. Nelfi Zapata grounded out, moving both runners into scoring position before Maikis De La Cruz hit a two-run double to left.

The Cyclones put up two more runs in the eighth when Boyd homered to left field, scoring Gavin Cecchini, who was hit by a pitch.

Justin O’Conner led off the bottom half of the eighth with a single before Joel Caminero reached on a fielder’s choice and advanced to second on a throwing error by second baseman Jeff Reynolds. Caminero then moved to third when Marty Gantt flied out, and scored on a Joey Rickard single. Rickard later scored on a double off the bat of Reginatto.

Brooklyn starting pitcher Gabriel Ynoa threw 5.0 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) off four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. The win went to reliever Logan Taylor who pitched 2.2 innings and surrendered two earned runs. Tyler Vanderheiden pitched a perfect ninth, striking out one, to collect his eleventh save.

Hudson Valley starter Taylor Guerrieri allowed just one earned run off one hit through 5.0 innings. Jordan Harrison suffered the loss – his first of the year – after going 1.2 innings and giving up four earned runs off five hits with three walks.

The Cyclones will return to MCU Park tomorrow, Thursday, August 30th to play the Hudson Valley Renegades at 7:00 PM.
